After her tragic death in 1967, parents and teachers pointed to Linda Fitzpatrick as a cautionary tale. Adults all over the US told teens, “Drugs and sex put you into contact with people that murder you.” While their statement had some truth in it, no one probed the causes why thousands of youth flocked to Greenwich Village, Haight Ashbury, and other hippie areas.
