Intersection - A One-Act Play
The play, Intersection, is based on a true crime that took place near the intersection of Highways 77 and 81 in Hillsboro, Texas.
Characters:
Helen Hopkins -- Co-owner, with her husband, of Hopkins Cafe and Service Station. Helen is verbose and full of positive platitudes until a tragedy changes her.
Tim Morris -- A young man who dropped out of Baylor due to finances. Helen gives him hope.
Betty -- a waitress who works for Helen
Harold Hopkins -- Helen's husband and co-owner of the business
Mrs. Williams —a customer
Albert—a boy about 11 years old
Brenda—a fashionable young woman

Mr. Harris—a friend of Harold and Helen Hopkins. He lost one of his arms in World War I.
This play is loosely based on an actual murder that took place at the edge of Hillsboro, Texas in 1932. A member of the Clyde Barrow gang robbed and killed a man who owned a service station and pawnshop. A young man was later tried and executed for the crimes.
