Susan Atkins and Karla Faye Tucker were both convicted of brutal, seemingly senseless murders, Atkins in California and Tucker in Texas. Atkins and Tucker butchered their victims while high on speed, a known inducer of violence. Probably to sound tough and scary, the attractive brunettes later bragged that they experienced sexual gratification from stabbing and jabbing their victims. They had both worked in sexually exploitive professions, Susan as a topless dancer and Karla Faye as a prostitute. Each spent time on Death Row. Atkins’ death sentence was overturned in 1972, yet she was still in prison when she died from cancer in 2009. Tucker was executed in 1998. The two women allegedly converted to Christianity from behind bars like many other prisoners. Only God understands a human’s heart, but Karla Faye’s faith seems more believable than Susan’s.
